The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, visits the Yak Vdoma residence in Bucharest (Romania), set up for Ukrainian journalists in exile.

To coincide with the Dialogues Migrations Forum in Paris, CFI publishes a study analysing how migration is portrayed by public authorities, the media and social networks in 16 countries.

In Cameroon, the Talk Peace project is launched with the aim of training young people in media and information literacy to combat misinformation and hate speech on social networks.

The Media for One Health project launches in South-East Asia to support media coverage of medical and environmental issues based on the “One Health” approach. This concept invites us to think differently about health, recognising the interdependence of the wellbeing of humans, animals and the ecosystems they share on our one planet.

The Iraqi women who participated in the Makanati project meet the CFI teams in Paris

Around a hundred female Iraqi journalists take part in the Qarib conference in Baghdad (Iraq) from 15 to 18 June.

Three hundred journalists and media activists from 45 countries meet in Paris on 11, 12 and 13 July for CFI’s Media and Development Forum, opened by Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, Secretary of State to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, responsible for Development, Francophonie and International Partnerships.

The main fact checkers in French-speaking Africa set up the African Platform for Francophone Fact Checkers (Plateforme africaine des fact-checkers francophones –PAFF) at the most recent Desinfox Sahel project workshop.

CFI and the Maison des journalistes sign a partnership agreement to provide accommodation and support to journalists in exile in Paris.

October

Two new projects are launched to tackle misinformation and promote closer ties between French- and English-speaking fact checkers at the Africa Facts summit in Port-Louis (Mauritius).

Marie-Christine Saragosse, Managing Director of France Médias Monde, and Thierry Vallat, Managing Director of CFI, open the new regional media centre for Central and Eastern Europe, located in Bucharest (Romania).

Twenty journalists from the Arab world and sub-Saharan Africa are supported to cover COP 28 in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) for their media outlets.
